rumors

he getting mad...
madder...
and now he is furious!

okay, so there is a nasty little rumor going around that Ayden is a little angel. All I heard all weekend long while I was at my Grandma's was "oh, what a good baby", or "I never hear him cry". Well I have proof that these are in fact rumors. Okay, so he was stuck in a car seat ALL day, but that is no excuse! hehe, just kidding. He really is a good baby. And he really doesn't hardly ever cry. But for those of you who think he is perfect, here is proof that he can be just a little stinker like the rest of em.

Shots

Today Ayden had a doctor's checkup and he had to get 3 shots! He got 2 on his right leg and one on his left. He also had an oral one they gave him in his mouth. He had a rough time at the doctors today. When I got him out of his car seat he had pooped and peed all over himself. And of course I didn't have an extra change of clothes, so he had to be in just a diaper the whole time. He was already fussy during his checkup, so when they started giving him the shots he was screaming! They gave him the oral one first and he hate it!!! He made the most grossed out face when she'd squirt it in his mouth. Then he started choking really hard on it. He was coughing so hard that he had little red circles around his eyes and tears. Then they gave him the shots and the second they stuck him he started screaming. It was so sad, they made me hold his legs out and still. After they were done I picked him up and held him against me and he just collapsed. He was still crying, but he wrapped his arm around mine and just layed there. It just broke my heart. He eventually fell asleep and we went home (in his diaper). They said he was gonna be irritable the next couple of day's. So I get to take extra special care of my little guy.

Whoopee!

So that Baby Whisperer lady is a miracle worker! I have only been doing it for 2 day's and already last night he slept for 81/2 hours! It was soooo... nice. Hopefully it wasn't just a fluke and he will do it again :) Anyways I am so happy that we have a better routine down. I don't know how much Ayden likes it though. Today Ayden was taking too long of a nap so I woke him up, which was NOT very easy. Poor guy just did not wanna wake up. I tried for like a half a hour to get him to stay up, which eventually he did. But he didn't seem to like being woken at all. Hopefully he will get used to it. Anyways, we will have to see if this was just a one time thing or if it will stick.

Baby Whisperer

So I have decided that enough is enough. I am determined to get Ayden to sleep through the night. I know it's probably wishful thinking, but I am gonna stay positive and hopeful. So, I figured since I have no idea how to get him to do this, I was gonna turn to the Baby Whisperer lady. I read the book and was pretty embarrassed to find that I do all the, "Not to do" things. I always feed him on-demand and have no schedule whatsoever. I was also shocked to learn that a baby Ayden's age should be sleeping about 8 hours a night! I cant even remember what it's like to sleep for 8 hours straight. That would just be amazing. Anyways, I have taken the Baby Whisperer's advice and I'm changing my ways. Today we followed the schedule really good, so we will have to see how tonight goes. Last night was real hard! She says that a baby shouldn't HAVE to wake up in the middle of the night, because they take in enough calories during the day to sleep all night. But some babies wake up anyways for the oral stimulation, and she says to substitute that for a pacifier. I thought she was nut's and that Ayden would see right through this little trick and want some real food! But when he woke up last night I tried it and it worked! It took about a half an hour to get him back to sleep, but he did without eating. She says that the time should get shorter and shorter until eventually he sleeps right through that little period he used to wake up. It was tough though, I wanted so bad to just give in and feed him. I felt like I was starving him or something, but when I realized he could go to sleep without the food I felt alot better. She also says not to make that play time and to not smile or encourage him playing. Which was so hard cause he was so smily! But the book is so good, by doing her schedule I can now know what he wants better, and that food isn't the universal solution to every problem he has. If you haven't read it, it's definitely worth the read! Lets just hope that for my sake, it can really get him to sleep through the night!
