Okay, so once again we are in another security deposit nightmare!
We just moved out of our apartment about 2 weeks ago. A week before we moved out I went to the office to ask about painting the place back. The lady said that they repaint the apartments after everyone moves out, and I might only have to do a primer. But she wasn't sure and said she would find out and call us back. She calls back Brian and tells him that the paint they use is really expensive and that we just have to match the color as close as we can with a cheaper paint. Okay... so I do that. It tooks me 3-4 days painting by myself and $75, but I got it done. I felt so good about the place because I made sure it was totally clean and good before we turned our keys in.
Fast forward about a week, and we get our lovely bill. They are charging us $150 for painting! We call them back thinking this has to be some mistake, but it's not. The manager says that no one in her staff would tell us we could color match and that it had to be that exact paint. She said that the color we used was way off (which it was NOT way off!) and that none of the staff members told us that we could do a different paint. Told us the conversation we had on the phone didn't happen and we have no way to prove it that it did, so we can go to court if we want but we have no case. Which at this point I am all too willing to do!
I just CAN'T believe this is happening again, and worse! Not only do we loose all of our security deposit, but we actually owe them about $100! On top of all the money and work I already spent painting. I am definitly not the confrontational type, but I was so mad talking to this lady I was shaking! We may not be able to go to court with this, but they definitly have not seen or heard the last of us! Im thinking about picketing or something! Lowering thier scores on all the apartment review sites! Something to get them back. I dont think I have ever been so mad in my life!

I am soo sorry! They sound like a bunch of jerks!! I hope it can get settled :S
sounds like someone didn't want to get in trouble so she denied ever having talked to you. dumb!
Seriously! Maybe you guys should quite moving! (J.K.) I am so sorry. They should just be happy with new paint, since it makes it look so clean and all. Can't Brian look on his cell phone bill and proved you called and she called back? Good luck.
Ew, I'm so sorry Marie. Landlord issues are completely evil. I hope you can get it worked out - yeah, at least get the phone records (even if you used a land line) to show that the conversation DID happen? Ick. Stuff like this just makes you grumpy at the world, doesn't it?
EWWWWW! That makes me so MAD for YOU! Why else would YOU go to all the trouble to paint it yourself also if it didn't help with the deposit? You gotta find the gal you talked with! This sooOOO ain't right! Call the Better Business Bureau of your town and see if there is anything you can do (or at least threaten THEM with)!
oh marie!! Just reading that makes my blood boil!! I would definitely fight this one out, that is ridiculous! I'm so sorry and good luck!
I have the answer to what is going on here... the landlord there and the one in Thatcher must be related. I mean, honestly, this is America, everyone here is perfectly rational right? No one would ever do something like that just to do it... Just kidding, I'm so sorry. That's crap. If only you could get back in there and do something really bizarre like... go to the bathroom and not flush, or open a jar of spiders and lizards in the kitchen, or let Ayden run around for a day with no diaper on... you could have so much fun with revenge, bru ha ha!! Good luck guys!
OH MY GOSH! I would fight back! That makes me so grumpy for you! That just isn't right. I would definately want to do something-I really like what Tiffany said =) haha that was pretty funny and probably very tempting! Good Luck!
In most states they are required by law to repaint between tenets anyways, so unless you did something that caused them to have to do an extra coat of paint, they shouldn't be charging you for it. I'm not sure what you can do about it though...
